August 8, 2007 - Housed in SOT-23 package, Model SP619 protects critical system circuitry by disconnecting source upon detecting current greater than 800 mA. When protecting single-cell Li-Ion portable devices, 2 nA leakage current ensures virtually zero impact to battery life. RoHS-compliant unit operates from 2.5-7 V and is suitable for load switching in battery charging systems, low power USB clients, and low power distributed systems.

Sipex Introduces New 800mA Fault Protection Device

The SP619 Provides Critical System Protection for Portable Applications

MILPITAS, Calif., July 26 /-- Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ:SIPX) today announced the release of the SP619, an 800mA current limit switch in a space saving SOT-23 package. The SP619 provides fault protection in a wide range of applications, such as protecting portable devices from poorly regulated wall chargers or USB sources, providing point of load current limit protection in distributed power systems.

The SP619 protects critical system circuitry by disconnecting the source upon detecting a current greater than 800mA. When protecting single cell Li-ion portable devices such as cell phones or PDAs, the 2nA leakage current ensures virtually zero impact to battery life. Together with a 2.5V to 7V operating range, these features allow the SP619 to improve system reliability and provide load switching in Lithium-ion battery charging systems, low power USB clients, and low power distributed systems.

"Sipex recognizes the growing need for greater system reliability and longer battery life in today's portable application market. By offering load protection and near zero leakage current, the SP619 represents a highly effective solution for a wide range of portable battery-powered devices," said Rich Kapusta, Sipex's Vice President for Interface Products. "The SP619 further augments Sipex's portfolio in the portable applications space."

Pricing and Availability
SP619 is available in RoHS/Pb-free 6 pin SOT-23 packages in the industrial temperature range. Pricing for these products begins at $0.25 in 1,000 piece quantities. For datasheets, sample requests, or other information about this product, visit www.sipex.com.
