Greenlee Launches a New Line Battery-Powered Crimping Tools with IntelliCRIMP(TM)

New Iine of tools feature lithium-ion batteries that provide 70% more cycles per charge

ROCKFORD, Ill. -Greenlee, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company has replaced its entire line of battery-powered crimping tools with a new line of lithium-ion powered tools. All of these new tools in the line feature IntelliCRIMP(TM), a pressure sensor that notifies end-users with both a visual and audible alert if the crimping force is below specifications for a successful crimp.

"When electrical contractors and utility workers are expecting the necessary amount of crimping force, they need to be assured that's what they're getting to meet specifications," said Jim Eisele, senior product manager. "This new IntelliCRIMP feature lets them know just that."

Most of the new tool models also have a new feature called Automatic Retraction Stop (ARS) which automatically retracts the ram just enough to get ready for the next cycle, saving time and energy. The ECCXL and E12CCXL tool models have Retraction Stop Repeat (RSR) which allows the operator to partially retract the ram and then the tool repeats the retraction for subsequent crimps.

The LED light provides the operator with the battery charge and tool maintenance status and also provides a light for working at night or in dark spaces.

The new Greenlee line of tools also come with new state-of-the-art 18V lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries that provide 70% more cycles per charge. Li-ion batteries weight about half as much as a similar NiMH battery and they don't lose their charge when they aren't being used. Smart chargers control the charging current, charging voltage, and battery temperature to maximize battery life.

All new tools in the line have improved balance and an over molded tacky grip, making them easier to hold and use.

And, of course, connections made with most of the tools are are UL and cUL classified when used with 7 brands of color-coded lugs and splices whereas most competitive tools are UL approved with only one connector brand.
