Kimberly-Clark's Safety Division Introduces KleenGuard® XP1 Coveralls

Extreme Particle Barrier Provided For Non-Hazardous Liquids

ROSWELL, Ga. (April 25, 2003) - Kimberly-Clark has introduced a stronger, more economical alternative to garments made from flashspun polyethylene for non-hazardous liquid and particulate barrier protection.

New KLEENGUARD® XP1 coveralls are made from a breathable, microporous film laminate. They provide 100 percent holdout of dry particles down to 0.3 micrometers, compared with 88.4 percent holdout of the same sized particles provided by flashspun polyethylene (e.g., Tyvek®) garments. They also provide 67 percent better liquid protection, as proven by AATCC 127-194 test method (Hydrohead).

In addition to providing superior protection, the new KLEENGUARD® XP1 coveralls are stronger than garments made of flashspun polyethylene as seen in Tensile Strength (ASTM D5034) and Trapezoidal Tear (INDA IST 100.2) tests. Better strength translates into improved worker safety and productivity, because garments are less likely to rip or tear.

Finally, new KLEENGUARD® XP1 coveralls are lower linting than garments made of flashpun polyethylene, helping to avoid contamination of processes and manufactured products.

KLEENGUARD® XP1 coveralls come in white. They meet ANSI/ISEA 101-1996 sizing standards and are available in the following formats: zipper front; zipper front, elastic wrists and ankles; zipper front, elastic wrists and ankles, with hood; and zipper front, with elastic wrists, ankles, hood and boots. A range of accessories is also available, including lab coats, aprons, sleeve protectors, hoods, shirts, pants, shoe covers and boot covers.
