Corrosion Monitoring Tool targets downhole environments.
November 22, 2011 -
Constructed of corrosion-resistant 17-4 PH SS, DCMS(TM) uses CorrosometerŽ electrical resistance corrosion probe element to determine rate of metal loss within downhole tubing. Tubular electronic instrument automatically reads and records corrosion probe at regular user-defined intervals. Upon retrieval of Downhole tool, corrosion rate history is downloaded to PC via CorrdataŽ II Software. Designed to withstand temperatures to 302°F and pressures to 10,000 psi, unit offers 90-day battery life.

SUBJECT: Newly Re-designed Downhole Corrosion Monitoring Tool Delivers Corrosion Rate Data and Temperature Data from the Harsh Conditions of Downhole Environments.
Rohrback Cosasco launched a newly re-designed DCMS(TM) Downhole Corrosion Monitoring System for downhole well corrosion management. The Downhole tool is a tubular electronic instrument that uses a CorrosometerŽ electrical resistance corrosion probe element to determine the rate of metal loss within the downhole tubing. The Downhole corrosion monitoring tool automatically reads and records the corrosion probe at regular user defined intervals. Upon retrieval of the Downhole tool the corrosion rate history is downloaded to a PC using CorrdataŽ II Software.
With the DCMS tool body made of highly corrosion resistant 17-4 PH stainless steel, it is designed to with stand temperatures up to 302°F (150°C) and pressures up to 10,000 psi. The DCMS Tool has a battery life of 90 days with measurement settings at 2 hour intervals. This time span allows for more than a sufficient amount of downhole corrosion rate data and testing period to evaluate the effectiveness of downhole corrosion inhibitor treatments of downhole tubing.
Corrosion inhibitors are a cost effective means of controlling corrosion in the downhole tubing of existing wells when properly tested and monitored. The Downhole corrosion measurement tool is the only tool that provides corrosion rate data from within hostile downhole environments and is used to test the efficacy of downhole corrosion inhibitor treatments.
The DCMS Downhole Tool is available for purchase and rental. For more information and specifications on the DCMS(TM) Downhole Corrosion Monitoring Tool for well corrosion management visit www.cosasco.com.
