New Cordless Power Duct Slitter Provides a Fast, Mobile and Convenient Way to Cut Utility Innerduct Conduit

Trevose, PA -- General Machine Products Company, Inc. (GMP), Trevose, PA, is pleased to introduce the Cordless Power Duct Slitter to its line of over 1,100 power utility, telecomm and CATV tools and equipment. The first of its kind, the rugged Cordless Power Duct Slitter features a battery-powered blade that offers a mechanized method for trimming and slitting innerduct utility conduit, providing a fast and easy alternative to the brute force typically required when cutting innerduct by hand. Because it is cordless, there is no power cord to get tangled in, and its portable capability allows the tool to be operated anywhere on the job site. Prior to the introduction of this device, field technicians used hand tools to cut innerducts that were time consuming and labor intensive.

The Cordless Power Duct Slitter features a blade diameter of 3-3/8 inches (85 mm), and is adjustable to cut innerduct of 1 to 2 inches (25.4 to 50.8 mm) in diameter. In addition, the Cordless Power Duct Slitter's compact design is easily maneuverable and fits comfortably in a worker's hand. At 12-3/8 inches (313 mm) long and weighing 6 lbs. (2.72 kg), it stores conveniently in most toolboxes.

Utility innerducts are used for enclosing and organizing fiber optic and other cables within larger utility conduits. Innerducts are typically made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or other types of plastic. Sometimes it is necessary to slit the innerduct longitudinally to access fiber optic or other cables, or when repairing damaged conduits. It is situations like these that make the Cordless Power Duct Slitter a useful and necessary tool that will enhance any utility tool arsenal.

The Cordless Power Duct Slitter comes with a rechargeable 9.6-volt battery and a battery charger. The battery charger weighs 1.19 lbs. (0.54 kg) and charges to full capacity in one hour. Extra batteries are available.

The Cordless Power Duct Slitter is constructed with a multi-directional cutting guide to assist with cutting innerduct longitudinally and also around its circumference. It also features a blade guard and a safety stop built into the switch to prevent accidental starts. It can be used for both utility and telecommunications cable placement, and is durable enough to withstand the most difficult work site conditions. Craftsmen with decades of utility tool manufacturing experience engineered the Cordless Power Duct Slitter in the U.S.A. The tool is backed by a one-year warranty.
