Ridgid's® New 3/8" Cordless Drills Combine Power and High-Performance Features in Compact Size

RIDGID R82001, R83001, R84001
12, 14.4, 18-volt 3/8" Drills
Key features:
o Single sleeve locking chuck
o Die-cast clutch ring
o Total grip overmold
o 360° auxiliary handle on 14.4 and 18-volt

Two batteries and 20-minute Rapid Max Charger(TM) included

(Elyria, Ohio) RIDGID® today introduced a new series of 3/8" Cordless Drills that deliver the torque, durability and comfort, professional contractors demand. The line of 12-volt (Model R82001), 14.4-volt (Model R83001), and 18-volt (Model R84001) tools is loaded with features that are rare in compact drills, such as a 20-minute battery charger and a 24-position clutch.

"Contractors have been hard-pressed to find powerful cordless drills that are both compact and provide the professional-grade features that maximize users' productivity. RIDGID's new line fills this industry void," said Jeff Drake, spokesperson for RIDGID.

RIDGID's new drills include two NiCad battery packs and a Rapid Max Charger(TM), which recharges a battery in just 20 minutes so that professionals can work with minimal interruption. The drills' self-ejecting battery packs make for quick, easy changes; the user simply presses buttons on either side of the pack, and it slides into his/her hand.

The new cordless drills also deliver exceptional torque: up to 350 in-lbs for the 12-volt; 400 in-lbs for the 14.4-volt; and 460 in-lbs for the 18-volt. To accommodate their high torque output, RIDGID has equipped the 14.4 and 18-volt models with a 3600 auxiliary handle, which increases user control and comfort by enabling professionals to rotate the drill in any direction.

Further enhancing the drills' ease-of-use is a single-sleeve locking chuck, which holds bits securely and makes one-handed bit changes fast and simple. Other features that add comfort and convenience include slide-stop pads for resistance on slippery surfaces and overmold for improved grip.

The soft yet resilient overmold contributes to the drills' superior durability, and protects work surfaces whether a tool is standing or on its side. In case a tool falls, RIDGID has placed overmold on the points of impact, as well as on the die-cast ring of the drills' 24-position clutch. RIDGID's new line also features three-piece housings, which provide better protection than the two-piece housings typically found on competitive units.

RIDGID® power tools are designed to serve the needs of professional contractors and woodworkers, who demand maximum power and superior durability. Packed with high-performance features, RIDGID power tools enhance productivity, enabling professionals to accomplish work more quickly, accurately and with less effort. Robust materials and rigorous engineering maximize the tools' power, heighten user comfort, and promote longer tool life. RIDGID power tools carry a 90-day satisfaction guarantee and a limited three-year warranty.
