Cord Connector allows hot swaps and streamlines wiring.
November 28, 2001 - Model 4730 cord connector allows hot swapping of power supplies to backplane or rear enclosure. Connector has IEC C20 inlet on one side and IEC outlet on other, so it is not necessary to unplug supply when changing it. Power cord remains while supplies are swapped. Module can be inverted and used to fit male or female connection on either side, depending on configuration. Single-piece module requires no soldering or riveting.

Inlet/Outlet Cord Connector "Hot Swaps" & Streamlines Wiring to Backplane
Schurter's new inlet/outlet cord connector 4730 allows for easy "hot swapping" of power supplies to a backplane or rear enclosure. A cord connector with IEC C20 inlet on one side and IEC outlet on the other prevents having to unplug the supply to change it. The power cord remains, while supplies can be swapped.
Similar backplane connectors on the market provide the same function, but only have quick connect or solder terminals for wire termination to the rear of the connector. This requires that the connector be internally wired, most likely to an internal bulkhead. The 4730 allows for mounting directly to the rear of the enclosure, whereby a molded detachable cord set can be used.
The module can be inverted and be used to fit a male or female connection on either side, depending on the configuration. Because it is a single piece, the module requires no soldering or riveting, but is instead screw-mounted onto the backplane or enclosure for stability.
The inlet/outlet module is cURus approved, 20A/250VAC; and TUV approved, 16A/250VAC. The inlet conforms with IEC/EN 60320-1; the outlet conforms with IEC/EN 60320-2-2: 1998/J/L. Pricing is $5.75 at 100 pieces.
