APC Introduces the InRow® SC Systems for Network Closet and Server Room Environments

Rack Integrated Cooling Enclosures Provide Easy Installation and Increased Mobility

West Kingston, RI - April -27, 2009 - APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced the APC InRow® SC Systems, a new self-contained, integrated cooling enclosure ideal for network closet and server room environments. These systems offer the flexibility to be deployed as a fully contained IT environment, meaning no need for remote heat exchangers, or as a partially contained system that can be easily added as a retrofit to allow for seamless growth within existing space. Complete with up to 7kW of cooling capacity, a 600mm wide rack enclosure, and front and rear containment options, these new cooling systems monitor and actively adjust cooling capacity to ensure proper server inlet temperatures.

"Network closets and server rooms are critical systems within a customer's IT environment, requiring high availability to support essential business applications," said Dave Guidette, senior vice president, Enterprise Systems and Service, APC. "The new APC InRow SC Systems provide the flexibility network managers need for changing IT environments in self-contained systems designed and engineered to work together in a scalable modular architecture."

The new APC InRow SC Systems are simple, self-contained units including an APC InRow SC row-based cooling solution, APC NetShelter® SX rack enclosure, and APC Rack Air Containment options. The APC InRow SC Systems offer ease of installation and mobility during changes. Intelligent and manageable components make the system network-enabled and self monitoring. Containment wrapped around IT rack and cooling creates an isolated environment capsule that can be placed in most surroundings with low noise impact as well as the option to add security solutions.

This new system features:
  • APC InRow SC Cooling - offers predictable cooling for server room and wiring closet environments in a row-based architecture, including features such as active response controls, individual hot swappable, variable speed fans, remote management capabilities, coil freeze protection, dry contact output, and horizontal airflow pattern,.
  • APC NetShelter Enclosure - provides a reliable rack-mounting environment for high-density and networking equipment including mounts for two APC metered PDUs (not included with bundle) in one rear channel, multi-vendor equipment compatibility, numbered U positions, removable reversible fully ventilated doors, and simple baying installation.
  • APC Rack Air Containment - is a modular system designed to work in conjunction with the APC NetShelter SX enclosure and InRow cooling unit to provide maximum cooling predictability, capacity, and efficiency. Easy to install, the APC Rack Air Containment unit attaches to the front and rear of the NetShelter SX rack enclosure thereby eliminating mixing of hot and cold air streams.

The APC InRow SC Systems are currently available in North America. The solution can also be configured as a fully redundant system to provide customers with additional availability. To learn more about this and other APC cooling solutions, please visit www.apc.com or call 800-877-4080.
