Converters cover nominal input voltages of 12, 24 or 48 Vdc.
November 2, 2009 -
Housed in metal package, high power density 15 W JTK15 and 30 W JTL30 series accept either 9-36 or 18-75 Vdc inputs. JTK15 series comes in single or dual output models, and measures just 1 x 1 x 0.39 in., while JTL30 series has footprint of 2 x 1 x 0.4 in., and offers single, dual or triple output options. Units feature input to output and input/output to case isolation of 1,600 Vdc for up to 1 min, and remote on/off signal to control output rails or to sequence start-up procedures.

High Power Density 15W and 30W DC/DC Converters Offer Ultra Wide Input Range
XP Power announced today the latest additions to their range of encapsulated PCB mount ultra compact DC/DC converters. Housed in a metal package, the 15 Watt JTK15 and 30 Watt JTL30 series can accommodate an ultra wide 4:1 input range. Covering nominal input voltages of 12, 24 or 48 VDC, the units can accept either 9 to 36 VDC or 18 to 75 VDC inputs. The JTK15 series, measuring just 25.4 x 25.4 x 9.90 mm (1 x 1 x 0.39 inches), is available in single or dual output models. The JTL30 series measures 50.8 x 25.4 x 10.16 mm (2 x 1 x 0.4 inches), and offers single, dual or triple output options. Single output models provide 3.3, 5, 12 or 15 VDC, with the duals providing ±5, ±12 or ±15 VDC. Triple outputs provide +3.3 or +5 VDC with either ±12 or ±15 VDC combinations. All outputs are fully regulated and vary no more than ±0.5% over all input conditions for single output models. Dual and triple outputs vary by less than ±1%. Additionally, the output voltage can be trimmed by ±10% on single output models.
The convertors feature an input to output and input/output to case isolation of 1,600 VDC for up to 1 minute. Both the JTK15 and JTL30 also feature a remote on/off signal. This can be used to control the output rails or to sequence start-up procedures. All units feature overvoltage and continuous short circuit protection.
These highly efficient DC/DC converters, up to 91% for the JTL30, can operate at full output power from -40 degrees C to +50 degrees C for the JTK15, and the JTL30 up to +65 degrees C, without derating. With a maximum case temperature of + 105 degrees C, no additional heat sinking or forced airflow is required making the converters suitable for most operating environments.
The JTK15 and JTL30 series suit applications in a wide variety of mobile, portable and wireless products, and where designers are looking to reduce the size of their end product.
The JTK15 and JTL30 series have a 3 year warranty and are available from Farnell or direct from XP Power.
