August 6, 2012 - Built upon Variable Frequency Current Fed Invertors, HAZControl(TM) Technology enables company to decide upon optimal weld parameters that define their brand, then uses predictive algorithms to calculate how power, frequency, vee length, and mill speed influence weld. If defined key variables change, HAZControl(TM) Technology guides operator back towards approved HAZ width and geometry. Variable frequency allows operator to control adjustment in 1 kHz increments.

The Latest Advancement in HF Welding

For over 50 years Thermatool has been the leading developer of HF welding equipment for the tube and pipe industry. From spirally wound fin tube to engineered structural sections, Thermatool's innovations consistently push the limits on design and implementation of HF welded products. These improvements have enabled Thermatool to demonstrate superiority in efficiency, weld quality and welding processes.

The success of a tube and pipe manufacturer is dependent on the quality of their weld. A successful weld is rooted in the culmination of a company's process knowledge and industry expertise; It is as much a function of purchasing strategies and managing styles, as it is operator know-how. Each company's approach yields a different product, and with influencing variables like Power, Line Speed, Frequency, Inductance and Vee Geometry, the weld is as complex as the industry that produces it.

Thermatool's new HAZControl(TM) Technology (HCT(TM)) provides one path to controlling the weld. HAZControl(TM) Technology simplifies the complex relationships between key HF welding variables. HCT(TM) first enables a company to decide upon the optimal weld parameters that define their brand. It then uses predictive algorithms to calculate and plot how power, frequency, vee length, and mill speed influence the weld. If any of the defined key variables change, HAZControl(TM) Technology guides the operator back towards the approved HAZ width and geometry on which the company depends.

HAZControl(TM) Technology is built upon Thermatool's Variable Frequency Current Fed Invertors (CFI). True Variable Frequency, often misunderstood in the industry, is a feature that allows controlled real-time adjustment of output frequency. Because frequency is dependent on many process parameters, it is possible to change the frequency of a welder when dramatic mechanical adjustments are made to the equipment. Mechanical manipulations like new coils and altered capacitor configurations will result in changed frequency, but for other welders these changes can occur without control. Thermatool's true Variable Frequency allows an operator to control frequency adjustment in 1kHz increments while maintaining stability in the rest of the welding variables. The resulting precision ensures repeatable HAZ characteristics across an entire product range regardless of operators, mill speeds, or product.

Thermatool continuously strives to advance welding technology by responding to the needs of the industry as it moves to stricter standards, higher loading demand, and material limitations.
