Contrast Scanners have simplified adjustment, configuration.

Press Release Summary:

Available with multicolor, white, or red-light laser transmitters, KRT 3B contrast scanners offer average scanning range from 14.5-60 mm, and response time from 50-125 µs. Products have EasyTune feature for fine adjustments, which enables switching thresholds to be set during operation. For on-site configuration, IO-Link supports digital output, time functions, internal mark counters, and remote control of sensor functions. Units are also available with 3 different teach processes.

Original Press Release:

KRT 3B Contrast Scanner

Leuze electronic unleashes the new KRT 3B contrast scanner range featuring exclusive technology and providing a device that is smaller, faster and ultimately - better.

The sensor world has sat up and taken notice - there is a new master in town and it answers to the name of KRT 3B. Featuring YellowBoost technology that is developed exclusively by Leuze electronic and not found in any other product range, as well as other highlights such as three different light types, EasyTune adjustment, interoperable IO-Link, selectable teach variants and the fastest response time and resolution, the KRT 3B is small, dynamic, and unsurpassed as the contrast scanning product solution.

Contrast scanners are integral components of many automated production processes in today's industrial environment and operate by using the difference in brightness between the mark and background to detect all kinds of contrasts at a constant scanning distance, such as color bars and tones and contrast marks on printed material, and are vital in situations where contrasts have to be detected quickly and accurately.

Leuze electronic offers the KRT 3B contrast scanner range with three different light transmitters - multicolor, white and red-light laser, providing a total of five transmitter colors. This unique scanner recognizes that the colors and surfaces of material can vary and have designed the latest product range to accommodate the variety of applications in which this device will be used. Based on the differing requirements of industries, the transmitter models can be chosen to distinguish between grayscale values and color; or between specific colors; or for optimized differentiation of small marks and minimal contrasts, all while being superior devices.

With an average scanning range from 14.5mm and up to 60mm, and a quick response time between 50µs and 125µs (varies by model), this KRT 3B range does everything users need for reliable detection. All three transmitter models are available in an exceptionally small construction, making it the optimum choice for industrial situations with limited space for the machine.

However, what makes the new contrast scanner range so unique is the YellowBoost feature in the white light transmitter model - with innovative technology designed exclusively by Leuze electronic. This super feature optimizes the contrast detection and considerably improves resolution by eliminating the "yellow hole" familiar with other devices of this class and smoothing the signal deviation allowing for superior detection.

With three types of teach processes, highly integrated solutions are now possible, and manipulating your device to customize your needs is simple and easy. Choose from the Static 1-point teach suitable for detection of marks outside a reference value; the Static 2-point teach suitable for manual positioning; or the Dynamic 2-point teach for moved marks in an automated machine process. With this sophisticated range of teach processes, you can easily find the optimum selectable variants for every possible use of the device and easily decide which teach variant will provide the fastest and easiest commissioning.

You can work intuitively with your device through the EasyTune feature, allowing fine adjustments to be made with the press of a button - and literally make changes with your little finger - it's that simple. Ordinarily, and with devices without the EasyTune feature, switching thresholds and application adaptation can only be done through a new teach-in. However with the KRT 3B series that feature EasyTune, switching thresholds can be done during running operation and simply be shifted, allowing a quick response to changed process parameters without performing a new teach-in.

The IO-Link in the KRT 3B series allows for unprecedented simplicity, and makes previously impossible functions like on-site configuration not only possible - but a simple reality. No innovation was spared with the new IO-Link, providing extensive configuration and service function such as digital output, time functions for fault suppression, internal mark counters and remote control of all sensor functions, and works in conjunction with the EasyTune feature to allow for easy switching threshold correction.

With the unique combination of all these features - from exclusive new technology to innovative and user-friendly highlights - the KRT 3B series is in a league of its own, and put contrast scanners in a new dimension. While being the smallest contrast sensor on the market in terms of housing, they are the biggest when it comes to performance and the question on the lips of the entire industrial world is how so much power fits into such a small space.
