Vasont Systems Unveils Version 12.2 of the Vasont® Content Management System

New features provide terminology management, content branching, and additional reporting capabilities

Emigsville, PA - Vasont Systems, a leading provider of content management software and data services, today announced the release of the next interim version of their content management system, Vasont® 12.2, that enables users to store multilingual content once for maximum reuse and delivery to multiple channels. This release focuses on enhancing productivity for writers managing modular content using DITA, other industry-standard and custom DTDs. This release is available on December 14, 2009 for both the perpetual license and hosted (SaaS) content management system models.

New features in Vasont 12.2 include:

  • Revisions feature - The Revisions feature is a branching capability that allows users to track and manage changes to modular content in relation to its original source content. All users who own content that references the modular content are alerted when it is revised so they can evaluate the changes with a new Revision Compare window and then link to the revision that best suits their document. This feature makes it easy for clients to work on multiple versions of their content simultaneously.

  • Controlled Vocabulary feature - This feature allows organizations to manage the terminology used in their documentation by defining "allowed terms" to be used and "restricted terms" to be avoided. By controlling the terminology that is used by the writers, documentation is cleaner, more consistent, and less confusing to the consumer. It also maximizes content reuse for easier and faster revision cycles. Vasont provides automated techniques for users to build dictionaries from content in existing Vasont collections or from other sources outside of Vasont. This feature can also identify misspelled and unrecognized words and allow authorized users to enhance the dictionary.

  • Content Exception Report - The Content Exception Report allows users to avoid taking action on content before it is approved and complete. It is particularly useful for identifying items that may interfere with publishing, and may also be used for diagnosing referenced modular content with specific criteria, such as draft status and specific edit dates.

"This interim release of Vasont provides more tools for clients to better manage their editorial and publishing processes," said Richard Schiding, President of Vasont Systems. "It's important for documentation to be accurate, and these new features give users even more ways to ensure the content's integrity."
