Thomas & Betts' Color-Keyed® Kube(TM) Flag and Tee Connectors Offer Field-Constructible Terminations

Installers Can Make UL®-Approved Custom Field Connections Without Time-Consuming Modifications

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - March 23, 2007 - Installers now can make UL®/CSA-certified custom field connections, including 90-degree and "T" connections, without time-consuming modifications using Thomas & Betts' patented Color-Keyed® Kube(TM) Flag and Tee Connectors. These connectors are designed to be used with standard Color-Keyed lugs and splices through 4/0 AWG, and their flexibility in positioning before crimping provides an unlimited number of possible connection configurations.

"There are significant bending radius requirements in the field that violate the National Electrical Code® when simply bending the cable to the requirement," said Jerry Woodward, senior product manager at Thomas & Betts. "The Color-Keyed Kube Flag and Tee Connectors easily facilitate those requirements without violating NEC. The Flag and Tee Connectors are an alternative to high-cost flexible conductors and the Tee Connectors eliminate the need to create welded or brazed connectors, which are not only costly, but are typically special designs with long lead times. The result is a fast and flexible field-assembled and installed connection with the lowest cost for these applications."

Color-Keyed® Kube(TM) Flag and Tee Connectors' modular design enables installers to build multiple circuit configurations. The connectors also feature insulated housings, which makes installation faster and safer; tin-plated connectors for corrosion resistance; and 99.9 percent pure wrought copper construction, offering the highest electrical conductivity and the lowest connection resistance.

As with all products in the Color-Keyed line, Kube Flag and Tee Connectors are color coded to ensure an easy selection of the correct crimping die and an easy visual inspection to verify the proper crimp.

A Complete Connection System Kit, which includes a selection of Kube Flag and Tee Connectors for common applications and a crimping tool, also is available.
