SoundStation2 for Avaya Offers Digital Conference Phone With Dramatically Improved Quality, Performance and Value Over Previous SoundStation Premier
PLEASANTON, Calif., Feb. 27 / -- Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLCM), the world's leading provider of unified collaborative communications solutions, today announced the availability of a new SoundStation2(TM) conference phone for Avaya Communication Manager telephony platform customers. A replacement for the previous SoundStation(R) Premier for Avaya (500D and 550D), the SoundStation2 for Avaya delivers dramatically improved quality, performance and value and offers a direct connection into the digital wall jack, eliminating the need for additional connectors, adapters and analog line cards. Expanding the longstanding relationship between Polycom and Avaya, the SoundStation2 for Avaya is co-branded and will be sold through both Polycom and Avaya channels (marketed as Avaya 2490 through Avaya and its channel partners.)

About the SoundStation2
The SoundStation2 is the latest addition to the award-winning line of iconic, triangular-shaped SoundStation conference phones from Polycom. It delivers dramatically improved voice quality, provides the ability to talk up to ten feet away in a normal voice and still be heard clearly, and adds new features including a backlit LCD display for easy use of phone applications, international Caller-ID, an address book for speed dialing, a cell phone connector, and an optional Computer Calling Kit for use with internet calling applications and soft phones.
The conference phone's user interface currently supports six different languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Norwegian.
Pricing and availability:
The SoundStation2 for Avaya (marketed as Avaya 2490 through Avaya and its channel partners) will be available the first week in March in North America through Polycom and Avaya channel partners for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of US $1,049. Models for European countries will be available in April with regional pricing. The SoundStation2 for Avaya is compatible with all Avaya releases through the latest Avaya Communication Manager 3.1.
