Concrete Testing System eliminates operator errors.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for measuring compressive strength of castable concrete, MegaForce II automatically controls rate of loading and testing of samples through programmable software. Comforming to American Society for Testing Materials specifications for concrete cylinders, cement cubes, cold crush, and concrete beam flexural strength, Megaforce II testing system is available on new machines and for retrofits.

MegaForce II from ADMET drives down cost of concrete testing

Precisely controls compressive tests to ASTM specifications

LAS VEGAS - Jan. 17, 2006 - ADMET Inc., a manufacturer of integrated materials testing systems, today introduced a next generation automatic concrete testing system called MegaForce II here at the World of Concrete Trade Show and Exposition. The new version features a simplified, maintenance-free design and is cost competitive with manual controllers.

MegaForce II automatically controls concrete testing machines and is available with new machines and for retrofits. It precisely controls the rate of loading and accurately measures the compressive strength. MegaForce II conforms to American Society for Testing Materials specifications for concrete cylinders (ASTM C39) and cement cubes (ASTM C109), as well as cold crush (ASTM C133) and concrete beam flexural strength (ASTM C78) testing.

MegaForce II features user-programmable, password-protected fast preload rate to a specified preload amount, automatic transition to specified test rates, and fast return to start. MegaForce II can be part of a comprehensive concrete testing system when combined with ADMET's MTESTWindows Materials Testing System and its DC16 or Gauge Buster digital indicators.

MegaForce II enables testing labs to reduce test times, perform consistent test procedures yielding reliable results, eliminate operator error, and ensure that tests are performed according to ASTM specifications. For instance, C39 requires load rates between 28 to 42 psi/sec. Manually operated machines can have loading rates greater than 50 psi/sec. Rates exceeding 50 psi/sec may deliver compressive strength readings that are as much as 20 percent higher.

"Testing labs are under tremendous pressure to test products as quickly as possible," commented Richard Gedney, ADMET founder and president. "This can lead operators of manual machines to rush jobs and use load rates that are beyond ASTM specifications. With MegaForce II, tests are always in compliance, yet, because of its fast preload and dump, overall testing cycles are completed in less time.

Pryor Giggey manufactures refractory products and uses MegaForce to test castable concrete. Tim Austel, Pryor Giggey research engineer, found that ADMET understood his testing needs. "I started calling around to find a manual replacement. ADMET understood C133 tests and made the MegaForce recommendation. It's been awesome. Before, I had to dedicate a person to the test as it was being run. Now, the operator puts in a cube, pushes a button and walks away. He comes back, puts in another sample and does it again. Throughput is way up.

MegaForce II is available immediately directly from ADMET and from ADMET resellers. Pricing starts at $6,445.
