New Dustless Concrete Grinding System from Metabo Protects Against Hazardous Dust
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, now offers a 7" Angle Grinder Surface Prep Kit ideal for use in concrete surface grinding of large areas and floors. The new system includes a Metabo W23-230 large angle grinder and a dust control shroud that protects users from harmful debris commonly generated in surface grinding applications.
When used with an optional vacuum, such as Metabo's ASR2050, the Surface Prep Kit helps to protect users from silica dust exposure in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
The 7" shroud, made from virgin polyurethane, easily opens to allow operators to work flush against a wall, eliminating secondary cleaning of corners and hard to reach spaces. The ergonomic design of the shroud includes a stabilization handle above the grinder to ensure a secure grip while operating the grinder with the shroud in place. Molded vacuum ports in the shroud allow vacuum connections for 2-1/4" internally and 2-1/2" externally. A punched relief hole prevents vacuum lock.
Metabo's new 7" Surface Prep Kit is ideal for large areas of heavy duty grinding applications in the concrete industry where surface preparation, removal of coatings, leveling and the elimination of over-pour are needed.
The W23-230 angle grinder included with the kit features a switch with lock-on capability, auto-stop carbon brushes and a unique dust-deflecting winding protection grid to protect the motor and internal components. The rear handle swivels both left and right 90 degrees to ease handling when grinding vertically.
With a 15 A motor, the large angle grinder offers 2,300 watts of power, 150 inch-lbs of torque and a no-load speed of 6,600 rpm. It comes standard with a wheel guard and a loop handle with bolts.
The optional ASR 2050 quiet operation vacuum that can be used in conjunction with the Surface Prep Kit ensures added safety and protection. The heavy duty vacuum has a soft start and comes complete with easily changed pleated polyester filter cassettes, automatic filter cleaning, extra large rear wheels and industrial front swivel casters for easy maneuvering.
