HP Lets Small and Midsize Businesses Easily Add PC Seats with Simple Shared-Computing Experience

New HP t200 Zero Client links up to 15 seats to one PC or server, adds Ethernet connectivity

NEW YORK - HP today announced the HP t200 Zero Client for MultiSeat, the industry's first PC sharing solution with the option of USB or Ethernet connectivity, giving businesses the flexibility to add more users at a fraction of the cost per seat of traditional PCs.

HP is showcasing the new HP t200 Zero Client for the HP MultiSeat Solution today at the Small Business Expo 2011 in New York City.

Designed for affordable expansion and simple deployment, the plug-and-play HP t200 Zero Client provides a familiar, individual Windows® computing experience for up to 15 users without requiring additional PCs. The device is positioned for use by small and midsize businesses, training and call centers, schools, medical offices, manufacturing sites and other organizations with multiple employees in a shared workspace.

"The HP t200 Zero Client provides additional scalability to our HP MultiSeat Solution, making it an ideal solution not only for small businesses and classrooms, but also training, healthcare and manufacturing environments," said Jeff Groudan, director, Worldwide Thin Clients, HP. "As the global industry leader in thin clients, HP continues to innovate simple, flexible, affordable thin computing solutions that deliver rich, productive user experiences."

Industry research firm IDC reported that HP led the thin client category in market share in the second quarter of 2011, retaining the No. 1 position globally.(1)

Simple, affordable and efficient Ready to deploy for quick, out-of-the-box productivity, the HP t200 Zero Client allows multiple users to easily connect to a single HP Compaq ms6200 Series Desktop host computer via USB for close-proximity computing environments, or via Ethernet for more physically dispersed deployments.

Unlike competing solutions, the simple-to-deploy HP MultiSeat Solution does not require opening the PC to install expansion cards. Easy enough for small, unmanaged IT environments, yet powerful enough for robust business productivity, each HP MultiSeat Solution sets up quickly with wizard-based setup tools.

The HP t200 Zero Client is slightly larger in size than a deck of cards, and consumes only 3 watts of power when connecting to the host via USB, reducing energy costs.

The HP t200 Zero Client is fully licensed and supported by Microsoft for its MultiPoint Server 2011 operating system, which offers complete compatibility with the latest OS, security patches and updates. HP provides comprehensive solution support on the complete offering.

Pricing and availability
The HP t200 Zero Client for MultiSeat is expected to be available worldwide in early November at a starting price of $99.(2)
