February 28, 2007 - Dyna-PurgeŽ M non-abrasive, non-chemical thermoplastic purging compound provides dual-scrubbing action. Formulated to flow through barrel of plastics processing equipment, heat-stable compound can purge any type of resin at temperatures ranging from 350-600°F. Non-melting softening granules expand and scrub screw and barrel while carrier matrix flushes away carbonized and degraded resins and other impurities without damaging metal surfaces or causing wear and tear on machine.

New and Improved Dyna-PurgeŽ M Purging Compound for Injection Molding and Extrusion Equipment Introduced by Dyna-Purge Division of Shuman Plastics

(FEBRUARY 2007) - The Dyna-Purge Division of Shuman Plastics, Inc., Buffalo, New York, announces the introduction of its new and improved Dyna-PurgeŽ M grade. One of 10 engineered purging compounds in the complete line of Dyna-Purge products, the enhanced formulation of new Dyna-Purge M provides dual-scrubbing action to purge faster and clean more effectively than other types of commercial purging products, the company states.

According to tests conducted by Diamond Polymers, Inc., an AL2A accredited independent laboratory located in Akron, Ohio, the new Dyna-Purge M grade lowers purging costs up to 73% compared to mechanical/chemical (hybrid), mechanical (abrasive), and chemical brands tested. Dyna-Purge M is a mechanical (non-abrasive), non-chemical thermoplastic compound. The amount of purging product used and time necessary for purging (including post-purge) to produce an acceptable, clean and thorough purge were factored into the testing of every type and brand of purging compounds. Results are reported in a white paper, Effective & Economical Purging of Plastics Processing Machinery, available from Shuman Plastics.

"Although Dyna-Purge M is our most versatile and popular grade, we have been modifying and testing new formulations to enhance the performance of the product while lowering overall purging costs for processors," said Tim Cutler, Dyna-Purge Manager.

Cutler stated that the new Dyna-Purge M grade was developed as part of the company's continuous product innovation program, and that Dyna-Purge M is its most universal grade in application because it can purge virtually any type of resin at processing temperatures ranging from 350°F to 600°F (177°C to 315°C) from injection molding or extrusion equipment.

New and improved Dyna-Purge M is formulated to flow naturally through the barrel of plastics processing equipment, Dyna-Purge states. Its non-melting, unique softening granules expand and scrub the screw and barrel while the carrier matrix flushes away carbonized and degraded resins and other impurities. Unlike glass-filled or other abrasive or chemical products, it does not damage metal surfaces of the screw or cause wear and tear on the machine. New Dyna-Purge M is heat stable and recommended for use when changing colors or resins, conducting preventive maintenance, purging before manual cleanings, and for start-up or shutdown.
