Composite Wheels operate in clean rooms.

Press Release Summary:

Power-Core wheels eliminate possibility of metal particulate contamination in clean room operations. Composite wheel is comprised of two components: machined plastic tire and roller bearing. Tire material has high resistance to flow under load and retains tensile and flexural strength as well as dimensions in shock load applications. Bearings use clean room approved grease. Wheels eliminate need for lubrication, reduce maintenance, and eliminate corrosion.

Specially Constructed Composite Wheels Eliminate Clean Room Contamination Caused By Metal Cam Followers, Track Rollers, Or Wheels

Closter, NJ: Contamination produced when metal cam followers, track rollers, or wheels ("wheels") operating within clean room environments create hazardous airborne particulate can be reduced or eliminated when replaced with Intech composite wheels.

Metal wheels moving along metal tracks in sliding partitions or doors, conveyors, turn tables, and machinery can produce microscopic particulate matter that contaminate the clean room environment and result in serious product defects. Replacement of the metal wheels with specially engineered Intech plastic wheels eliminates the possibility of metal particulate contamination and it offers added benefits such as noise reduction, shock absorption, and low rolling resistance.

The Intech wheel is comprised of two components-a machined plastic tire and roller bearing. The bearing is installed into the precision-machined tire using thermal technology developed by Intech allowing the radial run out on the roller OD to be held within very tight tolerance.

The Intech Power-Core tire material has an unusually high resistance to flow under load and because of its highly crystalline structure retains tensile and flexural strength as well as dimensions in shock load applications.

The tire installation method affords a lasting fit between the tire and the bearing even under high load and at elevated temperatures. The result in roller motion on a steel or aluminum track is quiet, effortless and very smooth. Intech wheels typically reduce noise up 10 dB, compared to metal wheels.

Intech wheels are designed to use special, clean room approved grease standard in roller bearings. Roller load bearing capacity under static and dynamic loads is calculated using proprietary software, thereby allowing Intech engineers to design wheels for specific applications.

Intech also provides a complete cam follower/track roller/wheel component-a wheel outfitted with precision shaft with threaded end and a spacer, ready for installation.

The Intech wheels eliminate the need for lubrication, reduce maintenance, eliminate corrosion, and present a competitive advantage in designing products for clean room usage.
