Ametek Dixson Introduces Data Bus Compass Module

Addition to NGIŪ Product Line Specifically Developed For Commercial, Heavy-Duty and Construction Vehicles

GRAND JUNCTION, CO-AMETEK Dixson - the industry leader in digital dashboard and instrument displays for heavy trucks and commercial vehicles - has expanded its precision instrumentation and cluster product lines to include a Data Bus Compass Module.

The Compass is a highly accurate sender unit featuring a built-in two-axis magnetic sensor that converts the data to a 360-degree value broadcast over an SAE J1587/J1708 vehicle data bus. The Compass is the ideal solution for all vehicle compass applications and is easily integrated with NGIŪ products or other displays.

The unit meets all SAE J1455 and J1113 requirements for vehicular instrumentation. Developed to withstand the harsh conditions encountered in the heavy-vehicle and construction industries, the module contains a six-pin, self-locking, sealed Packard Metri-PackŪ connector in a compact, robust, and environmentally sealed polymer package.

An advanced, built-in calibration routine compensates for local magnetic field distortions and accepts a declination angle input to provide a true geographic north heading. The Compass can also be mounted in several orientations to provide flexibility in vehicle applications.

AMETEK Dixson is the leading U.S. manufacturer of custom dashboard instruments and displays for heavy trucks, construction, and agricultural equipment. It is a division of AMETEK, Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electric motors with annualized sales of more than $1.8 billion.
