PEP Introduces CompactPCI System With Intelligent Platform Management For 6U Boards
Pittsburgh, PA, December 2001- PEP Modular Computers, a leading manufacturer of 3U and 6U low power, high performance CompactPCI and VME single-board computers (SBCs) and systems, has introduced the CP-ASM7-P47-RIO, a CompactCPl system incorporating Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), ideally suited for installation in remote locations or harsh environments.
The new CP-ASM7-P47-RIO is designed to facilitate remote diagnosis of system status and potential component failure, as well as easy component replacement. The system supports IPMI (PICMG 2.9 specification), which continuously monitors system status and reports potential problems; in addition, full hot swap is supported for all peripherals.
The new system also provides power supply redundancy and full hot swap capability, with two Positronic47 power supplies as standard equipment; as an option, up to two additional power supplies (for a total of four) can be included. The multiple power supplies can also be combined via current sharing to provide additional power for boards and peripherals.
The CP-ASM7-P47-RIO features a CompactPCI backplane with 8 or 16 slots for 6U CPCI boards; all slots are accessible via rear l/O. The hot-swappable 1 U fan drawer is equipped with three "intelligent" fans and an optional filter mat. Space is provided for optional 2.5", 3.5", or 5.25" drives.
