April 20, 2004 - CompactPCI Filler Panels ensure accurate lateral alignment and vertical orientation, while providing EMC protection for unused slots. Alignment pins ensure that panels stay in place and do not displace cards into last slot. They also maintain accurate parallel orientation with respect to adjacent cards, preventing cards from leaning, which would expose slight gaps in front of chassis, allowing radiated emissions through openings.

CompactPCI Filler Panels From Elma Feature Alignment Pin For Increased Reliability

FREMONT, California, Apr. 14, 2004 - Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, announces a new line of CompactPCI (cPCI) filler panels with alignment pins for increased reliability. The filler panels ensure accurate lateral alignment and vertical orientation, while providing EMC protection for unused slots.

The filler panels are designed to provide maintain accurate alignment for adjacent cards and EMC protection for the enclosure. The alignment pins in the cPCI filler panels ensure that the panels stay in place and do not displace cards into the last slot. In some designs, the EMC springs on the panels exert force on the card located to its right. This forces all of the cards to shift slightly to the right.

Therefore, the slot on the far right may have trouble fitting into the slot as pressure from the other cards displaces them. The Elma solution fixes the cards into place, preventing any lateral movement.

Further, the alignment pins ensure that the panel maintains an accurate parallel orientation with respect to the adjacent cards. This prevents the card from leaning, which would expose slight gaps in the front of the chassis, allowing radiated emissions through the openings. With the card fully aligned and straight, the unit's EMC protection is solidified.

Pricing for the cPCI filler panels are $8.00 in volume and are standardly in stock. Customization services are available. For more information on Elma's front panels and filler panel, visit www.elma.com or call 510-656-5829.
