Virtium Next-Generation TuffDrive CF Offers the Industry's Highest Capacity SLC-based Industrial Grade CompactFlash

Virtium is steadfast in its commitment to the industrial embedded market and plans to support CompactFlash well into the next decade

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif.,  -- Virtium, a leading provider of storage and memory solutions for industrial embedded systems, today announced its next-generation TuffDrive(TM) CompactFlash (CF) cards, which offer the industry's highest capacity at 64 gigabytes (GB) based on SLC NAND flash. Designed to deliver the latest storage technology advancements for applications that have not yet migrated to a serial interface, Virtium TuffDrive CF cards provide rugged solutions for a wide range of embedded systems that include PoS terminals, casino gaming, mobile monitoring devices, networking and industrial automation equipment. Virtium TuffDrive CF cards are offered in commercial and industrial temperature configurations and meet MIL-810 standards for shock and vibration.

"There has been a misperception in the industry that, because other suppliers have exited the market either through EOL or industry consolidation, CompactFlash as a technology is no longer viable.  That is absolutely not the case," said Gary Drossel, vice president of product strategy at Virtium. "Industrial embedded systems are still integrating CF cards and our OEM partners have new software and functional requirements that are driving the need for higher performance and capacity.  Virtium's TuffDrive CF will meet these requirements, and we envision supporting CompactFlash as long as the market demands it."

Virtium's TuffDrive CF products are available now in capacities from 128 megabytes (MB) to 64 GB, in both commercial (0 degrees to 70 degrees C) and industrial (-40 degrees to 85 degrees C) operating temperatures.
