Kansas City, MO - - Having introduced its "e-concept" thermoformer - a system with electric lifts requiring no compressed air or cooling water -- at several international trade shows in the past year, Multivac is launching a commercially available, ultra compact model at Interpack 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany this May.

The new Multivac R 095 thermoformer is just under 7 feet long (2.1 meters) and is ideal for users who have limited space and are new to automated thermoform fill-seal packaging. Because all lifting and cutting functions are powered by electric drives instead of pneumatics, the machine achieves a level of energy efficiency not previously available with this type of equipment. Eliminating the need for cooling water in the machine also represents a substantial logistical and cost advantage for users. Packages can be formed with a depth of up to 40 mm with flexible design possibilities, along with modified atmosphere (MAP) for extending fresh shelf life.
