Offering alternative to linear regulators, V78XX-1000-SMT series achieves efficiencies up to 92% via use of switching topology. This 15.24 x 8.50 x 7.00 mm series, suited for use where board space is at premium, has 5-18 Vdc input range and is offered with regulated output voltages of 2.5, 3.3, 5, or 6 Vdc. Remote on/off control, short circuit protection, and over temperature protection are standard features, and trim pin offers output voltage adjustability.

CUI Expands SMT Switching Regulator Line
TUALATIN, Ore. - CUI Inc announced the addition of a 1 A surface mount series to its highly efficient V78 dc switching regulator line. The V78XX-1000-SMT is designed as a high performance alternative to linear regulators, offering efficiencies up to 92%. This is in contrast to efficiencies typically ranging from 40~60% in equivalent linear regulators. The V78 series achieves higher efficiencies through the use of a switching topology, making it ideal for applications where board space is at a premium and energy efficiency is a concern.
The V78XX-1000-SMT series is compact, measuring 15.24 x 8.50 x 7.00 mm. An input range from 5 to 18 Vdc and regulated output voltages of 2.5, 3.3, 5, and 6 Vdc are offered. Featuring remote on/off control, short circuit protection, and over temperature protection, the V78 series boasts a temperature range of -40 to +85°C, making it suitable for use in most operating environments.
