Use of cPCI standard allows additional test functionality to be integrated in same chassis. Although data cannot be streamed/captured across cPCI backplane at full line rates, those rates are achievable between embedded processor and unit under test. Onboard RAM can then be used to capture up to limits of RAM size.

DAQTron 3410 Packet Processor Module Enables Low-Cost Layer 1-3 10/100/1000 Mbps Testing

ATLANTA, Aug. 5 -- DAQTron, Inc., an industry leader in the implementation of broadband test products and systems solutions, introduced the 3410 Packet Processor, a 3U Compact PCI (cPCI) module containing four 10/100/1000 Mbps ports.

The DAQTron 3410 Packet Processor is a 4-port 10/100/1000 Mbps module that uses the cPCI standard. Most other packet processing modules use proprietary backplane and processors and have more features than a user would ever need. By using industry standard cPCI, not only is price per packet processor port a fraction of other instruments, but other test functionality can be integrated in the same chassis.

The 3410 is ideal for performing layer 1-3, throughput, and packet loss tests on 10/100/1000 Mbps devices such as hubs, routers, cable modems, and DSL modems. Although data cannot be streamed or captured across the cPCI backplane at full line rates, these full line rates are achievable between the embedded processor that resides on the 3410 and the unit under test. Onboard RAM can then be used to capture up to the limits of RAM size.

DAQTron is currently in Beta test phase with the 3410 and expects to begin shipping the product in Q3 2008.
