Dynapar Announces the Introduction of the M53

Gurnee, IL - July 17th, 2008--Dynapar announces the introduction of the M53, a modular commutation encoder with low profile for easy mounting onto stepper and servo motors. The encoder also features a high 120°C temperature rating that won't limit motor performance, allowing manufacturers to keep from de-rating torque specs. Unlike some competitive modular encoders, the M53 features a direct-read phased array ASIC that provides 2500 PPR (Pulses Per Revolution). The M53 is also available with commutation tracks for 4, 6, or 8 pole brushless motors.

Compact Modular Design
Unlike traditional modular encoders that require special tools or shims for gapping the encoder disc, the M53 uses an innovative built-in gapping mechanism that requires no special tools or parts that can get lost or damaged. The compact mounting depth is made possible through the use of surface-mount components along with the custom ASIC. With an industry-standard Size 21 mounting pattern the encoder is perfectly suited for use on NEMA 23 and 34 size motors. When ordered with the low-profile cover, the encoder is rated for IP50 environmental protection.

Easy Motor Integration
With the ability to accommodate motor shafts from ¼ to ½-inch including metric sizes, the M53 is suitable for use with a variety of motors. A split-collar hub and up to 30 degrees of housing rotation for index or commutation alignment make for quick and easy motor installation, and the choice of cable or connector termination makes the M53 even more flexible for the motor user.

Price and Availability
The M53 commutation encoder is built to order and immediately available for the general market. List pricing starts at $159. For custom OEM applications and volume pricing, contact a Dynapar representative at 800-873-8731.
