Ezenia! Inc. Announces Release of InfoWorkSpace Version 3.0

NASHUA, N.H., March 27 / -- Ezenia, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: EZEN.OB) , a leading market provider of real-time collaboration solutions for corporate and government networks and eBusiness, announced today the release and immediate availability of Ezenia InfoWorkSpace(TM) 3.0 (IWS 3.0), the next generation of its powerful collaboration suite. IWS 3.0 can be ordered from the Ezenia web site at http://www.ezenia.com/.

With vast improvements to the underlying architecture, IWS 3.0 provides customers with even greater scalability than is currently available and reinforces its position as the premier battle-tested and mission-capable collaboration suite. "We have been able to work with two of our major customers, Joint Forces Command and the Air Force's Air Operations Center, to have InfoWorkSpace 3.0 used as the primary command and control collaboration suite in two large, multi-national experiments," remarked Mike Bass, Chief Technology Officer. "In both cases, in highly complex and critically challenging environments, InfoWorkSpace 3.0 has demonstrated impressive scalability and stability. Given these proven results and the rigorous in-house testing that has been completed, it's easy to see that InfoWorkSpace 3.0 gives our customers what they need: a secure, scalable and stable platform from which they can conduct their mission-critical operations."

In conjunction with the release of IWS 3.0, Ezenia is introducing additional services offerings aimed to provide much improved convenience and greatly enhance the deployment experience for our customer base. Effective April 03, Ezenia will offer on-line training for the Administrator and User courses taught using IWS 3.0 itself, thereby saving our customers travel time, lost productivity, and unnecessary collateral expenses. Concurrently, Ezenia will provide an unprecedented level of support to our customer base with its "Exercise and Deployment Services". Units preparing for deployment or exercise maneuvers can now leverage these services, thereby eliminating the need to tear down, transport, and bring up their own systems, prior to and following these activities.

"As the InfoWorkSpace product line continues to grow, we are striving to become a more full featured service organization, constantly developing new service offerings and capabilities," stated Dane Donaldson, Vice President of Customer Support Services. "We are excited to provide our customers with new services and training options to improve their collaboration experience. Ultimately, the success of our business will be determined by the very successes of our customers. By providing on-line training and "Exercise and Deployment Services', we clearly demonstrate our continuing commitment to serve our customers when and where they need us, globally."

IWS 3.0 development has focused on taking the necessary architectural strides in order to create a platform from which the advanced features needed by our customer base could be addressed. Highlights of InfoWorkSpace v3.0 include:

Interoperability -- Extensible Messaging and Present Protocol (XMPP)

IWS 3.0 demonstrates Ezenia continuing commitment to industry standards and interoperability objectives. With XMPP recently adopted within the Department of Defense (DoD), IWS 3.0 includes the support of this emerging standard, thereby providing genuine and seamless interoperability with similarly compliant vendors. IWS users can easily launch into a chat with users on an XMPP-compliant server.

Unmatched Scalability

In the Company engineering lab, a multitude of stress load scenarios was tested. In one case over 500 clients operated on a single server, processing more than 21,000 lines of chat representing approximately 7MB of data per hour, for several days. On another, using automated clients, more than 45MB of simulated chat were inserted per hour, the equivalent amount of chat traffic generated by approximately 5,000 users. IWS 3.0 handled these stress loads with virtually no degradation of performance. Most importantly, IWS 3.0 proved itself amply and demonstrated its unmatched scalability in much more demanding, load-stressing, resource-consuming, mission-critical, real-life intensive exercises such as MNE4 and JEFX of 2006.

Multi-Level Security (MLS)

By providing the capability for users at one security level to have real- time collaborative sessions with users at another security level, IWS facilitates inter-agency cooperation and information sharing between government organizations with different authorities, jurisdictions, and need- to-know. In the wake of major disaster and homeland security concerns, organizations that traditionally have only communicated via cumbersome administrative and manual processes can now freely share and exchange information quickly with virtually no worry of security breaches of sensitive intelligence.

User Experience Enhancements

In addition to the bulk improvements made to the implementation of the underlying architecture, IWS 3.0 also provides additional useful end-user enhancements, particularly in the instant messaging interface. Improvements range from simple functions like URL recognition to complex functions like muting of all audio in a chat room. Chat-room muting, a critical feature as a result of our customer input, allows for clarified listening on multiple audio channels, similar to how multiple voice channels are currently monitored, using various radio frequencies. When one of the channels must take precedence, this functionality provides a simple manner to quiet the other channels.

Backward Compatibility

One of the key tenets of the overall Ezenia vision is to maintain compatibility with our previously released software versions. Our customers often choose to collaborate across organizations, resulting in the need to support multiple versions of the software. Ezenia is committed to maintaining backward compatibility with at least two versions so that vital inter-organizational communications remain uninterrupted when one group upgrades and another has yet to do so. IWS 3.0 client is backward compatible with server versions 2.5.1.3 and 2.5.1.2.

Newer Operating System Support

IWS 3.0 now supports Windows 2003, Solaris 9 servers, and Solaris 9 & 10 clients, which leads to a natural progression to the 64-bit operation system platforms in future releases.

Third Party Product Upgrades

IWS 3.0 comes complete with multiple third-party components, now with more up-to-date versions, which include support of Oracle 9i as well as additional upgrades to the Sun One Web Server, Directory Server, and the Java Runtime Environment.
