August 9, 2002 - High Performance Series™ cold plates offer corrugated aluminum fins, which provide heat transfer surface. Vacuum brazing produces parts with uniform thermal conductivity over large surface area. Cold plates may be customized to any application and are available in sizes from 4 to 700 in˛ (as thin as 0.10 in.). They are manufactured by inserting aluminum fin into aluminum plate with machined cavity. Plate, lid, and fin are joined with vacuum brazing.

High Performance™ Cold Plates Improves Thermal Performance Up to 80%

July 1, 2002, Wobum, MA - Lytren, the Total Thermal Solutions™ company, proudly presents our High Performance Series™ of vacuum brazed cold plates, designed for high-watt density applications. These ultra-clean cold plates offer a thermal performance of up to 80% better than tubed-cold plates. High Performance cold plates are used in many industries including lasers, semiconductor capital equipment, medical, analytical, and applications using power electronics. The benefits of the CP-30 include:

- Exceptional Performance - The High Performance Series' corrugated aluminum fin provides a very large heat transfer surface. up to a nine-fold increase over the outside plate surface, making these cold plates extremely efficient. The fin creates turbulence which minimizes the fluid boundary layer and increases heat transfer. Furthermore, vacuum brazing produces a part with uniform thermal conductivity over a large surface area.

- Excellent Design Flexibility - Vacuum brazing provides design flexibility to customize the cold plate to any application. To balance heat transfer, flow, and pressure drop requirements, Lytron's engineers specify the optimal fluid path plus the best in fin geometry, height, and density. Lytron has produced vacuum brazed cold plates as small as 4 in˛, as large as 700 in˛, and as thin as 0.10 in. Additionally, the cold plate can be surface machined to optimize the heat load/cold plate contact surface.

- Outstanding Cleanliness - The High Performance Series cold plates are vacuum brazed for superior cleanliness. Some competitors use dip brazing, an inferior process that produces fluid channel corrosion and increases the unit's pressure drop.

Charlie Carswell, President of Lytron, said, "The High Performance Series combines Lytron's 40 years of experience in designing cold plates with our manufacturing excellence in vacuum brazing. Our six-sigma program improved our cold plate vacuum brazing yields to over 98%, significantly higher than the industry standard. This means we can offer these products at a lower price than our competitors."

The High Performance cold plates are manufactured by inserting aluminum fin into an aluminum plate with a machined cavity. The plate, lid, and fin are joined with vacuum brazing. Lytron sells a standard vacuum brazed cold plate, our CP-30, for end user applications. For OEM applications, Lytron's engineers partner with customers to design a custom cold plate, tailored to their specific application.

Lytron is the only Total Thermal Solutions™ provider that is ISO 9001 registered. ISO certification assures users that Lytron's liquid-cooling products are defect-free and able to provide years of reliable, leak-free service. For over forty years, Lytron has been well known in the industry for consistent high quality and on-time delivery.

Lytron designs, develops and manufactures high performance heat transfer systems and components. Its products include cold plates, recirculating chillers, compact non-refrigerated cooling systems, aluminum oil coolers, copper tube-fin heat exchangers, stainless steel tube-fin heat exchangers, compact brazed-plate heat exchangers, and economical OEM coils.
