General Dynamics' NAV-10 Code Translation Suite Cuts Costs, Improves Efficiency of ICD-10 Implementation

FAIRFAX, Va., -- General Dynamics Information Technology's ViPS business sector will launch its new NAV-10 Code Translation Suite readiness tool today at the 3rd Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) 5010 and ICD-10 Implementation Forum, July 13-15, in Fairfax, Va.

The NAV-10 Code Translation Suite assists healthcare organizations in preparing for 2013 compliance with International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10) regulations.

The NAV-10 Code Translation Suite is an integral component of ViPS' ICD-10 Readiness Solutions. The software provides organizations a clear understanding of the impacts and costs associated with the mandated transition to ICD-10 and offers enterprise-wide migration solutions that save time and money.

"General Dynamics Information Technology's ViPS understands the significant impact that the ICD-10 conversion will have on healthcare organizations and their business enterprise. Becoming compliant by 2013 will require significant changes to the information systems and processes that sustain operations," said Marcus Collier, senior vice president of General Dynamics Information Technology's Civilian and Homeland Security division. "With our 30 years of experience in collecting, analyzing and reporting data, coupled with our extensive knowledge of regulatory issues, our NAV-10 Code Translation Suite will allow organizations to implement the transition cost effectively and ahead of schedule."

The NAV-10 Code Translation Suite has a code analyzer capability that identifies reasonable and valid ICD-10 alternatives for specific ICD-9 codes. Its code converter feature can simulate conversion, create test data, and convert existing systems and business intelligence (BI) applications to meet ICD-10 compliance requirements.

These features, combined with the enhanced mapping functionality, give users the best ICD-10 code replacement to facilitate a complete conversion. The software also includes a:

-- Comprehensive Code Reference Library that provides multiple search paths for ICD-9 and ICD-10 procedures and diagnosis narrative files,

-- Premier Code Group Manager that allows effective management of translation of groups of codes, and

-- Provider-Facing Code Finder that offers providers an easy, portable way to locate codes via web access.

"As a leading provider of healthcare information technology and informatics, General Dynamics Information Technology's ViPS has incorporated advanced, automated technologies into its NAV-10 Code Translation Suite to simplify and accelerate the ICD-10 conversion process," said Art Lehrer, general manager and vice president of General Dynamics Information Technology's Health IT Solutions sector. "Our healthcare and data management expertise, premier technologies, multiple platforms and best-of-breed components offer government and commercial payer organizations the ability to make the best decisions on where and how to focus time and resources for improved patient outcomes and greater cost efficiencies."
