May 2, 2007 - Surge Suppressors with Gas Discharge Tube handle frequency ranges used by WLAN and mobile communications systems. Available in 2.5 and 6.0 GHz models, they withstand discharge currents of 40 kA and 10 kV, respectively. Lower 2.5 GHz model features spark-over of 75-1,000 V, 300 W load capacity, IP67 rating, and is offered with N, SMA and R-SMA interfaces, while 6 GHz model is offered in SMA and R-SMA versions.

Telegartner Introduces a New Series of Coaxial Surge Suppressors for WLAN and Mobile Communication Applications.


Due to the high frequency ranges being allocated for WLANs and mobile communications systems, Telegartner has developed two new series of gas discharge surge suppressors with N, SMA and R-SMA interfaces:

2.5 GHz High Performance Surge Suppressors with Gas Discharge Tube. These surge suppressors have been designed for use from DC to 2.5 GHz and with an IP 67 rating and they are suitable for outdoor applications. In addition, they are capable of carrying loads of up to 300 W and can handle impulse discharge currents of 40 KA (8/20 impulse). Various designs with DC spark-over voltages from 75 V to 1000 V are available.

6 GHz Compact Surge Suppressors with Gas Discharge Tube. These surge suppressors, especially intended for WLAN use, are suitable for applications from DC up to 6 GHz and can withstand impulse discharge currents of 10 KV maximum (8/20 impulse). At this time, designs featuring SMA and R-SMA are available.

Quarter-Wave Shorting Stub Protectors. A wide variety of quarter-wave shorting stubs are still available. These protectors work as narrow bandpass filters with only a narrow bandwidth allowed to pass while other frequencies are shorted and discharged to ground. The design of this coaxial device involves a direct and solid short circuit between the center and outer conductor. A variety of stub designs are available in frequency ranges of 380 MHz to 2.5 GHz. They can carry loads of up to 500 W and can handle impulse discharge currents of 100 x 100 KA.
