Valspar Descoglas RF Coating Systems Seamlessly Integrate Walls, Floors and Ceilings
WHEELING, IL, April 26, 2007 - Valspar Flooring, a division of Valspar Corporation (NYSE: VAL), is helping facilities and contractors achieve smooth, seamless environments with its new Descoglas® RF reinforced wall and ceiling coating system. Field proven for connecting unlike substrates without the use of joints or sealants, this high-build surfacing system wraps walls and ceilings into the floor, eliminating corners, cracks and crevices that harbor dirt and bacteria.
Suited for a variety of substrates, Descoglas RF utilizes 100% solids, fiber-filled thermosetting resin for simplified application and accelerated turnaround. "Descoglas RF combines low VOC, high performance polymer technology with a reinforcement fibers that are built directly into the coating," explains Lysa Young, Marketing Manager for Valspar Flooring. "This system produces a seamless, aesthetic, high performance surface in fewer installation steps than conventional reinforced wall coatings."
The coating's built-in fiber reinforcement provides outstanding dimensional stability and long-term resistance to impact and abrasions, thermal shock resulting from high-pressure steam cleaning, and exposure to aggressive chemicals. And because Descoglas RF creates a static-resistant surface, it inhibits the build-up of dust and other airborne particles.
The durability and cleanliness of Descoglas RF are ideal characteristics for pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacturing plants, "clean room" environments, commercial kitchens, food and beverage processing facilities, and healthcare operations.
To realize optimal performance, the recommended system includes a pigmented topcoat of Valspar Flooring's UR-22 EnviroUltra WBU, a highly versatile, water based urethane topcoat that meets current VOC requirements in all 50 US states. Installation in occupied areas is allowed thanks to the system's minimal odor and ultra-low VOC.
