Pregis Offers Fire-retardant and Anti-stat Versions of Its PolyPlank(TM) Plank Foam for Structural, Cushioning Applications
Deerfield, Ill., - Pregis Corp. is now offering a fire-retardant (with or without anti-stat) version of its PolyPlank(TM) closed-cell low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plank foam. The fire-retardant (FR) option is also available on the company's PolyPlank(TM) LAM laminated engineered foam product. PolyPlank(TM) has a long-standing reputation as being resilient, non-abrasive and easy-to-fabricate. This LDPE plank foam provides excellent shock and vibration protection during product transport making it ideal for a broad variety of applications. The FR and FR plus anti-stat grades were developed to address structural and packaging applications where flame retardancy is an important attribute. The products have met multiple flammability and flame spread requirements including those from the Underwriter's Laboratory, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations and Federal Aviation Administration. "The two biggest markets for these products are transportation and the military. The FR, and FR plus anti-stat grades, are ideal for everything from automotive manufacturing to bus and airplane seats. Both the extruded PolyPlank(TM) and the laminated PolyPlank(TM) LAM feature a 2.2 lb. density. Standard dimensions for PolyPlank(TM) are 2- x 24- x 108-inches with PolyPlank(TM) LAM at 2- x 48- x 108-inches. Custom thickness of 3-, 4- and 6-inches are also available. The FR plank is ivory colored, while the FR anti-stat version is a blue/gray. PolyPlank(TM) products are typically converted by fabricators into their final shape. They can be die-cut, heat-sealed, welded, glued, saw cut, skived, water jet cut, routed and drilled to precise specifications. This creates a more secure fit for packaging applications which improves the ability to stabilize and cushion the items in transit.
