Medical Applications to Benefit from Coax and Power Contact Capability on Popular Circular Connector Series

Hudson, Mass. March 2005…Hypertronics’ D series of cost effective, high reliability circular plastic connectors is now available with coax and power contacts. This D02 offering is available with a combination of 1 coaxial contact (rated at frequencies to 18GHz) and up to 9 signal contacts (rated at 2.5A). Alternatively, the coax could be replaced with a 25A power contact, in the same housing. The D02 is also available with from 7 to 25 signal contacts, three 8A power contacts, and in combinations of signal & power with two 8-amp power contacts and up to seven 2.5A signals in the same connector

Like all Hypertronics D series connectors, D02’s incorporate the unique Hypertac® hyperboloid contact system, which provides high cycle life, low insertion force, low contact resistance, and immunity to shock and vibration. These factors make the connectors ideally suited for critical medical applications including electronic catheters, patient monitors and wearable therapeutic devices.

D series connectors feature a simple push button latch, which eliminates field problems and equipment downtime associated with more complicated latching systems. Rugged thermoplastic housings protect the contacts in cable-to-panel and cable-to-cable applications. Custom cable assemblies are also available.

Delivery is 4 to 6 weeks from the factory and these connectors are also available through Hypertronics’ authorized distributors: Astrex, Inc. (www.astrex.net) and Kensington Electronics (www.keiconn.com).
