New Square D® Circuit Monitor Uses Web-Enabled Functionality to Optimize Value Quickly, Without Special Training

PALATINE, Ill. - Oct. 3, 2002 - Web-enabled forecasting functions of the new SQUARE D POWERLOGIC® Series 3000 Circuit Monitor (CM3000) help industrial and large commercial users to easily and quickly achieve greater value from power monitoring systems. The CM3000 collects and logs energy usage, then analyzes the data to forecast trend plots, averages and demand metering in real time. That forecasting ability comprises an unprecedented learning function that's achieved without special software. The user gets more information, and gets it more easily than ever before.

"The CM3000's advanced, open functionality removes a layer of complexity for facility engineers," said Gregg Morasca, POWERLOGIC national sales and marketing manager. "It relieves their concerns about committing limited resources to learn and install special software for power monitoring systems."

The CM3000's powerful processor, open protocol Ethernet communications card and on-board memory can capture great amounts of data in a standard web browser. The information is served to the host circuit monitor, and transparently for other devices connected downstream. Real-time instantaneous readings, predictive forecasting trends, energy usage cost, power quality and disturbance analysis, demand metering and other functions help users spot trends and maintain control over the electrical system. Without requiring special training or time-consuming installation, the CM3000 allows a user to quickly transfer data into HTML pages for review on an Intranet or the Internet. Since using a standard web browser requires no special software, facility engineers who use open systems can easily get power quality metrics and immediately apply the information on the job.

The CM3000 shares many of the same capabilities - such as highly accurate metering algorithms and remote display - with the industry's most powerful permanently mounted circuit monitor, the POWERLOGIC Series 4000. Designed for use on main electrical panels and electrical feeders, the CM3000 provides power quality and energy information that can help measure and control energy costs, and maximize uptime.

The CM3000 circuit monitor has 600-Vac direct-connect metering inputs and does not require PTs, making it quicker and more affordable to install. The small size of the CM3000 allows an installer to mount it almost anywhere inside the equipment instead of using a dedicated metering compartment. The device also has built-in rail clips for DIN rail mounting.
