October 30, 2008 - Resistant to operating temperatures of 2,200ºF in vacuum and 1,200ºF in oxidizing atmospheres, Aremcolox(TM) 502-1800 is machinable aluminum nitride and boron nitride ceramic composite. Aluminum nitride improves abrasion resistance, while calcium-stabilized binder system provides resistance to moisture pickup, spalling, and cracking. Properties include dielectric constant of 6.4 at 1 MHz, volume resistivity greater than 1,015, and 3.1 ppm/ºF coefficient of thermal expansion.

New Aremcolox 502-1800 Ceramic Composite Now Available

Valley Cottage, NY - October 17, 2008

Aremcolox(TM) 502-1800, a new, machinable, aluminum nitride and boron nitride ceramic composite, produced by Aremco Products, Inc., is now to produce insulators and arc shields used in physical vapor deposition (PVD) and vacuum processing applications to 2200 ºF (1200 °C).

FEATURES

Aremcolox(TM) 502-1800 is new, machinable, aluminum nitride and boron nitride ceramic composite that provides excellent electrical insulation properties including a high dielectric strength of 1090 volts/mil, low dielectric constant of 6.4 at 1 MHz, and a high volume resistivity of > 1015 at room temperature.

Aremcolox(TM) 502-1800 is a high purity composition that is chemically stable and inert, and ideal for vacuum applications. The addition of aluminum nitride improves abrasion resistance, and the calcium-stabilized binder system provides resistance to moisture pickup, spalling, and cracking.

Aremcolox(TM) 502-1800 is resistant to operating temperatures of 2200 ºF (1200 °C) in a vacuum and 1200 ºF (700 ºF) in an oxidizing atmosphere. The coefficient of thermal expansion is relatively low at 3.1 ppm/ºF (5.6 ppm/ºC), making it resistant to thermal shock. Additional properties include a high thermal conductivity of 40 W/m-K and a flexural strength of 18,200 psi at room temperature.

Aremcolox(TM) 502-1800 is available in standard rods from ¼" to 1" diameter x 12" long, and plates from ¼" to 1" thick x 4" x 4". Additional sizes and custom parts can be fabricated upon request.
