Berkeley Varitronics Systems Releases Squid-PRO 3G Cell Tower Tester for M2M Installations

Squid-PRO(TM) 3G Cell Tower Tester is a handheld receiver aimed at the booming wireless M2M installation market. The Squid-PRO(TM) provides installers a real time display of local 3G carriers' base stations and their respective signal strength or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator). Squid-PRO(TM) identifies RSSI, carrier network and type of 3G technology (UMTS, CDMA, GSM and GPRS, etc.) for all 4 major U.S. carriers. This data provides installers with enough information to make key installation site decisions as well as optimal antenna placement all in an effort to choose the best mobile carrier for their particular site. Gone are the days where installers and electricians relied on consumer grade cell phones for important install decisions.

Squid-PRO(TM) contains multiple radios and multi-band antennae for several U.S. network carriers. Since Squid-PRO(TM) is working in the passive "listening" mode only, no SIM activation or monthly contracts are required. Instead of installers juggling between several cell phones to guesstimate the best coverage for their M2M site, a single Squid-PRO(TM) can provide all the data needed to make installation site location decisions and optimizations. In addition, Squid-PRO(TM) supports up to 3 simultaneous external antenna (SMA) connections allowing installers to optimize antenna placement.
