New Titan Cathetometer Measures Vertical Displacement in Hard-to-Access Areas
(APRIL 2007) - Titan Tool Supply, Inc., Buffalo, New York, introduces its new model TC-II Cathetometer, a precision optical instrument to measure vertical displacement in areas that are inaccessible to an indicator, scriber, or other mechanical checking devices because of distance or combinations of blended curves. The Cathetometer has a simple "cross-hair" reticle mounted in its eyepiece, featuring 90-degree cross-lines with equally spaced divisions and two concentric circles for vertical and horizontal alignment.
The new model TC-II Titan Cathetometer serves as a micro-telescope, providing an optically correct image (right side up, left-to-right) with magnification of 12.5X as a microscope and 3.5X at 7" as a telescope. Operating on ambient light - no additional illumination is required - the unit has an adjustable focal length from 4" to infinity, increased by rotating the front eye tube, and is accurate within 0.0001" per foot. The unit can be attached to any height gauge 18" or larger by a ¼" x ½" holding bar in place of an indicator or scriber attachment. Since it is lightweight (1 lb.), the Cathetometer stays level even on the lightest height gauge, according to Titan Tool.
