Littelfuse Introduces New Space-Saving 505 Series Fuse for 500VAC/VDC Applications

Littelfuse 505 Series 6x32mm (3AB) fuse offers both 500VAC and 500VDC alternative over competitors, for protection of power supplies and other high energy equipment.

DES PLAINES, Illinois, November 17, 2008 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS) today announced its new 505 Series of 6x32mm ceramic body, fast acting cartridge fuses for high energy applications.

With ampere ratings from 10A to 30A, they can safely interrupt fault currents at 500VAC/VDC. This Series also includes axial lead versions, making them ideal for PCB through-hole mounting where space is limited.

With its 500V rating for both AC and DC, the 505 Series is a better alternative to competitive 6x32 fuses that are not rated for DC applications, and also a good replacement for power fuses.

The Littelfuse 505 Series should be of particular interest to electronic circuit designers, as the size of end equipment continues to shrink and circuit protection is becoming more and more critical. This Series will also get the attention of purchasing agents and inventory managers; its AC and DC ratings make it suitable for both primary (AC) and secondary (DC) circuit protection, thereby simplifying component sourcing and inventory.

Typical applications for the 505 Series are 3-phase power supplies, uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), and other high-energy equipment. The high interrupting capacity and fast response of these fuses ensures they will open safely to protect the equipment under very high fault current conditions. All the fuses in this Series are RoHS-compliant/lead-free, and are recognized under UL and CSA component programs.

Availability.
Samples are available immediately. The standard OEM bulk quantity is 1000. For initial orders, lead times are approximately eight weeks ARO; for subsequent orders the lead time is six weeks ARO or less.

Additional Information.
More information on the 505 Series fuses is available from Daniel Wang, Product Manager, dwang@littelfuse.com, or by visiting www.littelfuse.com, or by contacting your local Littelfuse Technical Support expert.
