Cartridge Filter has larger filter area.
May 21, 2002 - Deep Pleat cartridges have more filter area than conventional pleated synthetic media. Pleats are 50% deeper because MikroBoss™ media prevents pleats collapsing under operating pressure. Increased filter area lowers pressure drop, reduces cleaning frequency, increases capacity, and improves filter life. Media is available in spunbond and spunlaid polyester and polypropylene, as well as PTFE membrane, Nomex, and antistatic aluminized media.

New Media Technology Significantly Improves Cartridge Filter Performance
MikroPul's new Deep Pleat Cartridges increase effective filter area significantly over conventional pleated synthetic media. Pleats that are more than 50% deeper - while maintaining the same pleat density - are allowable thanks to the company's new, patented MikroBoss™ media which prevents collapsing of pleats under operating pressure. This unique design uses staggered dimpling on the filtered side which provides unrestricted air flow and pulse cleaning at the extreme ends of the pleat.
The increased filter area lowers pressure drop, reduces cleaning frequency, increases capacity, and/or improves filter life. MikroBoss is available in spunbond and spunlaid polyester and polypropylene, as well as PTFE membrane, Nomex, and antistatic (aluminized) media.
