Cypress Computer Systems Goes the Distance In Access Control with Suprex®

Cypress Computer Systems Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of access control and security related products, announces SUPREX® (Supervised Reader Extender), the cost-efficient, dependable solution for extending the distance between access control readers and controllers. SUPREX spans up to 10,000 feet using two-conductor, Ethernet, or Fiber Optic media, eliminating the need for additional expensive controllers and wires.

Reader Supervision can finally be added to any installation. Cypress’s SUPREX is designed for easy installation, and provides immediate feedback from diagnostic board once installed. Ideal for multi-location organizations, SUPREX features alarm output from the central unit, immediately indicating power or communication loss with the reader at the remote unit.

SUPREX’s protocol eliminates interference, ensuring that the reader’s data will arrive intact through “real world” noise, transients, and other adverse line conditions. Reader technologies supported include Wiegand readers using swipe, insertion, and proximity formats (24 to 40 bit), and Magnetic Stripe readers using swipe and insertion (up to 253 bits).

SUPREX is also available in a Radio Frequency model. For more information visit suprex.net.

About Cypress Computer Systems, Inc.

Cypress Computer Systems Inc. is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of access control and security (AC/S) related products. Founded in 1983, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, the company founders first used their extensive technical experience in the industrial data communications industry to develop a wide-area proprietary alarm monitoring system known as Cypress AMS.

Since the installation of the first AMS system at General Motors in 1985, Cypress’s product line has evolved to encompass many aspects of security and access control. By the early 90’s, the product line consisted of Alarm Monitoring, Access Control, and Fuel Management systems. Cypress also developed a variety of ancillary products which are sold as add-ons to other security manufacturers’ equipment. In 1992, Cypress relocated to Michigan to better service major customers in that region such as GM, Chrysler, Ford, and EDS.

Today, Cypress products are used worldwide for a variety of AS/C functions, including parking lot gate controllers, remote buildings, crossing open building complexes, elevator shafts, and more.

Cypress remains wholly owned by the founders, Anthony J. Diodato and Jeffrey J. Roberts, and remains committed to developing state-of-the-art solutions for the access control and security industry.
