Revolutionary VXS Enclosure Handles Added System Demands

LOWELL, MA -- Triple E Corporation's new enclosure design meets VITA 41.0-200x specifications for the VXS VMEbus switched serial standard. The new VXS enclosure effectively handles increased data bandwidth transfer demands while maintaining backward compatibility with all VMEbus structures.

The system backplane conforms to both the VITA 41.0 Rev 1.10 VXS core specification and VITA 38 specification for system management. A high-speed multi-GIG RT-2 connector provides up to 6.4 Gbps switched serial traffic over PO and maintains compatibility with a VME64X COTS boards that do not include a PO connector.

Measuring 8U tall X 19-in. (rack mount) X 15-in. deep, this new enclosure meets IEEE1101.10 specifications and features all-aluminum construction with smooth durable powder coat finish. A patented 901 Series card guide deck assembly provides exceptional stability, durability and maximum airflow between guides effectively protecting boards from damage. The guide deck accommodates a total of twelve (12) 6U X 1, 6mm X 160mm boards; ten (10) payload slots and two (2) switch card slots indicated with Sapphire blue card guides for positive board location identification. A stainless steel injector/ejector plate withstands high insertion force.

An on/off rocker switch operates the 800W power supply mounted on the base of the unit. The power supply has nominal input @115-240VAC and operational input @90-264VAC. Output is rated +5VDC @120A, 3.3VDC @40A, +12VDC @12-20pk and 12VDC @10A. Operating temperature ranges from -40 degrees C to +50 degrees C with full load. Four voltage status LED's are conveniently located on the front of the enclosure. Three reliable DC fans provide cooling air circulating from the front lower intake area to the top rear exhaust.

The VXS enclosure is designed to handle ever increasing demands inherent in electronic warfare, radar, software, radio and telecommunications application systems. Standard system costs start at $7430 per unit and arrive fully assembled 12 weeks ARO. For further information contact Triple E Corporation, 60 Foot of Crosby Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
