Agilent Technologies Introduces Fast, Accurate Capacitance Meter for Small to Large Capacitance Measurements
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 25, 2008 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced the E4981A capacitance meter -- the newest addition to its LCR family of meters. Offering the best combination of accuracy and speed, coupled with a wide measurement range from small to large capacitance, it is the ideal solution for ceramic capacitor test in electronics manufacturing and system integration.
Ceramic capacitor manufacturers and integrators of ceramic capacitor test systems are driven by the need for accurate and repeatable capacitance measurements. They are also under continual pressure to improve throughput and test yield while maintaining a low cost of test. The Agilent E4981A meets these needs by offering highly accurate (0.07-percent basic capacitance accuracy) and repeatable measurements with small fluctuation, as well as a fast measurement speed of 2 ms at 1 MHz. Its accuracy improves the yield on bin sorting, while its measurement speed translates into improved test throughput.
Another key feature of the E4981A is its ability to measure ceramic capacitors from small to large capacitance. It provides 120 Hz, 1 kHz and 1 MHz measurements in one box. The ability for an engineering team to now use a single instrument for such a wide measurement range improves production flexibility and lowers the cost of test.
"Measurement speed, accuracy and flexibility set this new capacitance meter apart from other commercially available solutions," said Gregg Peters, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Component Test Division. "Together, these features ensure today's manufacturers and system integrators are able to make fast, accurate ceramic capacitor measurements while realizing improved test efficiency and a lower overall cost of test."
The E4981A is SCPI-command compatible with the other capacitance meters: the 4268A (120 Hz/1 kHz) and 4288A (1 kHz/1 MHz). It features advanced PC connectivity via LAN, USB and GPIB, and an easy-to-use, intuitive user interface with large display.
