New Micro USB Cables offer the technology poised to become the next universal mobile device interconnect

Initially, the cables will be available in 3', 6' and 10' lengths (UUSBHAUB3, UUSBHAUB6, UUSBHAUB10 respectively), starting March 27, 2008.
"Micro USB technology has been receiving much deserved publicity lately," says Keith Rodrigues, Product Manager for StarTech.com, referring to the OMTP (Open Mobile Terminal Platform) recommendation from September 2007, that mobile device manufacturers adapt Micro USB as a standard connection. The OMTP is currently comprised of nine full members: including AT&T, Orange, SK Telecom, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telenor, T-Mobile and Vodafone, and is sponsored by Ericsson, Nokia, and SanDisk.

Aside from the benefits of a cross-industry standardization, the Micro USB connector is roughly half the physical thickness of a Mini USB connector, which will assist manufacturers in the design of thinner and lighter portable devices, going forward.
