Cable-Extension Transducer delivers 4-20 mA signal output.

Press Release Summary:

Built for wet environments and outdoor applications, rugged SR1M provides position feedback signal that is directly proportional to length of its spring-loaded, 125 in. measuring cable. It offers programmable stroke range settings from 25-125 in. with input voltage of 10-30 Vdc, and maximum velocity of 80 ips with maximum acceleration of 10 G. Loop powered unit weighs only 2.5 lb, includes internal dip switch for signal reversing, and is offered with optional cordset.

Celesco's SR1M Industrial String Pot Offers 4-20 mA Output, Low Costs and High Quality

Chatsworth, CA ~ Celesco Transducer Products, one of the world's leading designer and manufacturer of linear and rotary measurement transducers, now offers another low-cost, high-end cable-extension transducer as part of its flexible SR1 series of products.

Celesco's SR1M is the third in a series of rugged, low-cost, high performance string pots that offers industry standard position feedback signals. This sensor's 4-20 mA signal provides a position feedback signal that is directly proportional to the length of its spring-loaded, 125-inch measuring cable. Additionally, the SR1M is "loop powered" and requires only a simple two-wire connection.

It is built for wet environments and outdoor applications and designed for outdoor construction equipment, thus thus providing position feedback in any outdoor environment. As such it is a perfect low-cost solution for OEM and stocking distributors.

The SR1M is now available and ready for shipment anywhere in the world. What sets this sensor apart from other string pots is that the programmable digital circuitry designed within the pot provides customers with a convenient, one-size-fits-all solution.

The SR1M ships factory calibrated to the full 125-inch (3-meter) measurement range but the output signal can be easily rescaled to match any stroke down to just 25 inches, said Jim Bishop, General Manager.

"The SR1M is heavily used for motion control and data acquisitions systems," Bishop said. "It truly is the top-of-the-line industry standard because it offers great value and higher efficiency at a comparable cost."

Stroke settings for the SR1M will range from 25 to 125 inches with input voltage of 10-30 VDC. It offers maximum velocity of 80 inches per second with maximum acceleration of 10G. At just 2.5 pounds, it is light and easy to use and comes with an optional cordset.

Installation is quick and easy as cable alignment is not critical. Unlike rod-type sensors, the measuring cable fully retracts into the body shrinking the required space well beyond that of other position sensors.

"This is part of a series of new transducer products that will revolutionize the industry," Bishop said. "It demonstrates the investment Celesco is willing to make in product development and in meeting the needs of our customers."

The key benefits of the SR1M include:

o Output signal is 4-20 mA current loop

o Sensor is loop powered

o Requires just two wires

o Robust output signal

o Customer programmable stroke range settings from 25 to 125 inches

o Includes an internal dip switch for signal reversing
