IDEAL Introduces World's First Category 6a Specific Cable Certifier, Purpose Engineered for 10GBASE-T Ethernet Networks
SYCAMORE, Ill., Jan. 20 -- IDEAL INDUSTRIES, INC., one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of quality tools, connectors, and testing products for the electrical and data communications markets, today introduced its LANTEK® 6A -- the first cable certifier available to specifically test Category 6a and ISO Class Ea (augmented) UTP and STP cabling expected to be ratified by the Telecommunications Industry Association and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) early next year.
Combining IDEAL's signature innovation and user-friendliness, the LANTEK 6A offers a sweeping frequency up to 500 MHz so it can accurately test 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T) networks to assure that they meet the transmission parameters of IEEE 802.3an. 10GBASE-T provides data speeds up to 10 billion bits per second, and is expected to be used extensively to interconnect local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and metropolitan area networks.
To extend its versatility far beyond copper networks, the new LANTEK® 6A is compatible with IDEAL FIBERTEK® and TRACETEK® fiber accessories, as well as the IDEAL Coax Adapter Kit. IDEAL further offers an upgrade to the LANTEK 6A allowing it to support CAT7/ISO-F and above. IDEAL will also offer an upgrade path for current LANTEK 6 owners to upgrade their certifiers to a LANTEK 6A.
The LANTEK 6A shares many of the legacy features that have made the IDEAL LANTEK Series of Cable Certifiers one of the best selling on the market, including:

Another LANTEK exclusive included is a unique link adapter scheme, which offers numerous benefits to the user. The IDEAL LANTEK 6A is available in a basic package (LANTEK6ABAS) priced at $5995 and a premium package (LANTEK6APREM) priced at $6995. The premium package includes a deluxe hard shell carrying case instead of soft carrying case, two extra batteries, dual-battery fast charger, PCMCIA card adapter, 64 MB CompactFlash(TM) card and a USB CompactFlash(TM) card reader.
Responding to end-user requests, IDEAL is also offering a Traveling (TRV) version of its LANTEK 6A premium package (LANTEK6ATRV) that features a luggage-grade traveling case on rollers with room to stow the certifier plus FIBERTEK and TRACETEK accessories. As part of the LANTEK 6A introduction the TRV package is priced at $6995 -- a $200 savings. Those end-users purchasing the top-of-the-line LANTEK 7G (LANTEK7GTRV) are also qualified for the deluxe travel set discount.
