Wasino Unveils JD-1 Affordable CNC Lathe with Sub-Spindle Replacing Swiss Machines

Rolling Meadows, IL (November 18, 2002) - Wasino's JD-1 CNC lathe provides Swiss machine benefits for operations requiring smaller length to diameter ratios at a much more affordable price.

The JD-1 achieves the accuracy of Swiss machines, while adding to its performance with several design enhancements. First, Swiss machines require ground stock, Wasino's JD-1 does not. As a result, the JD-1's cutting fluid does not need to be oil as it is in a Swiss machine, but can be a water-based fluid. What's more, rather than a parts ejector, the JD-1 features an integrated parts unloader for delicate parts. For shorter cycle times, the JD-1's spindles are fully synchronized so it can transfer parts on the fly between main and sub-spindles.

The JD-1 is equally effective in both stand-alone situations and when integrated into flexible transfer lines. For efficiency, a pre-engineered gantry loader is used, to load/unload parts and a broad range of raw material supply devices are available. While featuring exceptionally small footprints, Wasino lathes are precise and powerful. Heavy cast iron beds with hardened and ground box ways and double sets of angular contact bearings ensure precision. The JD-1 is built from the ground up for automation. Wasino's controller includes .00001" X and Z offset control capability to allow for finer adjustment of machining tolerances.

Bar capacity for the JD-1 is 1.25", main and sub-spindle speeds are 6,000 rpm, with a main spindle horse-power of 7.5. Optional accessories include a bar feeder or CNC bar feeder/loader and a SR Gantry loader system.
