Geomet Additions Enhance Factory CMM Functionality
HELMEL ENGINEERING PRODUCTS, INC. announces additions to its Geomet CMM Software system designed to simplify interfacing of the company's shop hardened Phoenix and Microstar Coordinate Measuring Machines into manufacturing cells and production lines.
As Helmel's CMMs are increasingly being integrated into automated production, requirements for the CMM to communicate with external operations like load/unload robots, door opening and closing, or locking and releasing fixture clamps have also increased. The new standard I/O option includes a 24 channel USB digital I/O controller, a distribution board with 24 I/O sockets, 11 standard opto-isolated modules, and easy set-up software features to simplify integration. Automated tool path correction and digital communication to machining and turning center controls is also available.
Helmel has built mechanical bearing CMMs for 32 years, and current designs are hardened and protected for use in harsh production applications.
