Edmund Optics® TE Cooled CCD Based Spectrometers Provide Excellent Performance to Cost Ratio

September 14, 2009 Barrington, N.J. - Edmund Optics® (EO), the premier provider of optical components, introduces their new TE Cooled CCD Based Spectrometers. They provide a low cost, high performance Spectroscopy solution for a wide variety of low light level detection and long term monitoring applications.

High stability and low dark noise

Edmund Optics' TE Cooled CCD Based Spectrometers are equipped with an impressive 2048 pixels and include a built-in 16-bit digitizer for optimum resolution and maximum flexibility with integration time. The high speed USB 2.0/1.1 interface provides an easy and convenient way for data collection. The TE Cooler reduces the CCD temperature thus decreases its dark noise, improves dynamic range and offers excellent long-term operation stability.

Detection of weak optical signals in low light applications

CCD array is cooled using built-in Thermoelectric Cooler (TEC). This is an effective way to reduce dark current, which improves signal to noise ratio. This also enhances the dynamic range and low light level detection limit. Typically, when a CCD is cooled by 7ºC, the dark current is reduced to half. This reduction allows the spectrometer detect weak optical signals in low light level applications - ideal for fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy.

Spectral data software included

Edmund Optics' TE Cooled CCD Based Spectrometers include intuitive Spectral Data Acquisition Software, which is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, NT, XP and Vista Home Basic SP2. Featuring an SMA fiber input, the compact units measure only 4.25" x 3.75" x 1.65" and weigh a mere 1.2 lbs. The Spectrometers are available in UV-VIS, VIS, UV-VIS-NIR and NIR models, offering solutions for every scenario.

Edmund Optics' TE Cooled CCD Based Spectrometers are price competitive. They are in stock with immediate availability for fast turnaround and excellent performance to price ratio.
