January 25, 2006 - With fold from flat command, Radan 05 users can convert 2D component drawings, imported DXF files, or flat part developments with defined bend lines into fully defined 3D models that can be manipulated or modified. Parameters such as bend radii can be varied within 3D environment, with software updating model, flat progression, and corresponding CNC machine program. Lofting command enables any 2 flat profiles to be positioned in space and then joined by continuous surface.

Extra Productivity Tools in Latest Radan Software Release

Two new productivity tools are at the heart of the latest release of Radan 05, the world-leading CAD/CAM software for sheet metalworking applications from Bath-based Radan Computational.

The first is a new 'fold from flat' command, which provides an aid to reverse engineering, as well as a powerful tool for users to extract maximum benefit from their legacy data. Its key capabilities include conversion of existing 2D component drawings, imported DXF files or flat part developments with defined bend lines into fully defined 3D models that can be subsequently manipulated or modified at will.

Parameters such as bend radii can also be varied within the 3D environment, with the software updating the model, flat progression and corresponding CNC machine programme at the touch of a button.

Another key feature in the latest release of Radan 05 is a new 'lofting' command, which enables any two flat profiles to be positioned in space and then joined by a continuous surface. Because the end profiles need not be identical - or even similar - in shape, this tool is particularly suitable for pipework and ducting applications where one cross section is required to blend into another.

Further new capabilities in the latest software release include improvements to component nesting routines, faster order-mode entry and enhanced DNC options.
